This Court has held that joinder (coadyuvancia) is a form of intervention that occurs when a person participates in a proceeding by adhering to the claims of one of the principal parties. Accordingly, a party is entitled to act as an intervening party (coadyuvante) when that party holds a direct interest in the outcome of the writ; however, because the intervening party is not a principal actor, it will not be directly affected by the judgment — that is, the effects of the judgment will not extend to the intervening party in a direct and immediate manner, nor will the res judicata (cosa juzgada) effect of the ruling bind it.
