The tourism development of the islands of the Gulf of Nicoya is hereby declared of public interest; for which purpose, the State, through its public institutions, may promote the development of infrastructure (public, road, maritime, connectivity, drinking water, services, among others) and investments in tourism in the area, under a scheme of sustainable development and proper environmental management, which strengthen the social and economic condition of said territories. Likewise, the State may support all initiatives that promote local development and the activities of the small and medium-sized enterprises of their inhabitants, linked to tourism development.\n\nThe State shall evaluate, every two years, the impact of the projects on the natural resource present on the islands of the Gulf of Nicoya.\n\nARTICLE 2- Participation of the State\n\nPublic sector institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions, are urged, within the respective legal framework, to manage support and cooperation mechanisms with the municipalities and the district municipal councils, for the execution of this law, through any type of resources or alternatives, cooperation agreements, initiatives, and public-private partnerships, in order to promote the tourism development of this area.\n\nIt shall take effect upon its publication.\n\nGiven at the Presidency of the Republic, San José, on the twenty-eighth day of the month of April of the year two thousand twenty-five.\n\nLet it be Executed and Published."
