Punta Mala,\nformación litoral natural con características geológicas, biológicas, ecológicas y\npaisajísticas únicas en Costa Rica, se encuentra apenas parcialmente protegido dentro de\nlos límites originales de refugio, que por su susceptibilidad debe ser objeto de\nprotección.\n\n4º—Que en dicha zona habita una tropa de monos Tití\n(Saimiri oestedii citrinellus), especie endémica y oficialmente declarada en vías de\nextinción, además de otras especies de fauna con poblaciones en peligro de extinción o\namenazadas como el cocodrilo (Crocodylus Acutus), el caimán o guajipal (Caiman crocodilos\nfuscus), la boa (Boa constrictor), tortuga verde del pacífico (Chelonia agasizzi),\ntortuga de carey (Eretmochelys inbricata), y otras especies que utilizan la zona como\nsitio de travesía.\n\n5º—Que los recursos ambientales anteriormente\ndescritos se encuentran seriamente amenazados, tanto en la parte continental como en la\nmarina, por la fragmentación, la depredación y otras alteraciones antropogénicas, por\nlo que se hace imprescindible ampliar el área donde se regule la actividad humana y se\npromueva la conservación y el establecimiento de corredores biológicos. Por tanto,\n\nDecretan:\n\nArtículo 1º—Amplíase\nel Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Playa Hermosa, categoría estatal, ubicado en la\nhoja cartográfica del Instituto Geográfico Nacional Herradura N° 3244-1, escala\n1:50.000, cuya delimitación territorial será la siguiente:\n\na) Sector continental: la zona que comprende los 50 metros\nde zona pública de la zona marítimo terrestre entre las coordenadas Lambert Costa Rica\nSur 391 850 N - 396 950 E, que corresponde al mojón IGN 500 en los límites de la finca\npropiedad de Agropecuaria Hilda Marina, S. A.\n\nb) Sector continental: la zona que comprende el área\nrestringida de la zona marítimo terrestre entre las coordenadas Lambert 400 660 E - 389\n135 N sector Playa Hermosa, y los mojones 581, 545 y 500, según numeración IGN, que\ncorresponden, respectivamente a las coordenadas Lambert Costa Rica Sur 387 600 N - Therefore,\n\nDecree:\n\nArticle 1.—The\nPlaya Hermosa National Wildlife Refuge, state category, is expanded, located on\nthe Herradura cartographic sheet of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) No. 3244-1, scale\n1:50,000, whose territorial delimitation shall be as follows:\n\na) Continental sector: the zone comprising the 50 meters\nof public zone of the public maritime zone between the Lambert Costa Rica\nSouth coordinates 391,850 N - 396,950 E, which corresponds to IGN boundary marker 500 on the limits of the property\nowned by Agropecuaria Hilda Marina, S.
