Se incluyen dentro\ndel Parque todas las rocas e islas ubicadas frente al mismo que se encuentren\nen aguas territoriales de Costa Rica.\n\n \n\n(NOTA: Mediante el\nartículo 1° del decreto ejecutivo N° 6385 del 30 de\nsetiembre de 1976, se adiciona al Parque Nacional Corcovado\nla Isla del Caño)\n\n \n\n(NOTA\nDEL SINALEVI:  Mediante decreto ejecutivo N 11148 del 5 de febrero de 1980 \n\"se amplía el Parque Nacional Corcovado, creado por Decreto Ejecutivo\nnúmero 5357-A, de 24 de octubre de 1975, para que incluya como área total la\ncomprendida dentro de los siguientes linderos: desde un punto de la costa\nlocalizado en las coordenadas 287.000 N y 492.750 E, sigue por líneas rectas\ncuyos vértices tienen las siguientes coordenadas:\n\nCoordenadas\n\n| 287.000 N | 498.500 E |\n| --- | --- |\n| 288.500 N | 500.000 E |\n| 288.500 N | 501.000 E |\n| 287.500 N | 502.000 E |\n| 287.500 N | 503.000 E |\n| 288.000 N | 503.500 E |\n| 288.000 N | 505.000 E |\n| 289.500 N | 506.500 E |\n\nA partir de este último punto, se continúa con rumbo Este, franco hasta\nun punto situado en las coordenadas 289.500 N y 508.600 E, en donde se localiza\nla naciente de la Quebrada Vaquedano; sigue el límite\naguas abajo de esta quebrada hasta el sitio de su confluencia con el río Pavón,\nque tiene por coordenadas 283.680 N y 517.200 E; de este punto sigue el límite\naguas abajo del río Pavón hasta su unión con el río Rincón, situado en un punto\ncon coordenadas 284.350 N y 518.450 E; sigue el lindero aguas arriba de este río\nhasta un punto en las coordenadas 279.400 N y 518.530 E, donde se une con el\nrío Niño; se sigue aguas\narriba de este río hasta su nacimiento en un punto con coordenadas 279.250 N y\n520.550 E, de donde se continúa por línea recta hasta encontrar el punto de\ncoordenadas 277.400 N y 521.750 E, donde nace el afluente Norte del río Agujas;\ncontinúa el lindero aguas abajo de éste hasta su confluencia con el afluente\nSur del río Agujas en el punto con coordenadas 276.940 N y 525.280 E; se sigue\nen línea recta hasta el punto de coordenadas 273.560 N y 527.740 E, donde se\nubica la confluencia de la quebrada Piedras Blancas con su tributario,\ncontinuándose aguas arriba de esta quebrada hasta su nacimiento que se\nencuentra en un punto con coordenadas 270.080 N y 522.880 E; se sigue con rumbo\nSur franco hasta el punto con coordenadas 270.000 N y 522.880 E; continúa el\nlindero con orientación Oeste franco hasta un punto con coordenadas 270.000 N y\n521.000 E, sigue luego sobre la coordenada 521.000 E, con rumbo Sur franco\nhasta un punto con coordenadas 268.260 N y 521.000 E, de donde se sigue con\norientación Oeste franco hasta un punto con coordenadas 268.260 N y 520.720 E,\nen este punto nace la quebrada Leona, continuando el lindero aguas abajo hasta\nsu desembocadura.\n\nEntre este último punto y el de origen de la presente descripción se\nextiende el límite marino de este parque que incluye una franja de 500 m de mar\na lo largo de la costa.\n\nCualquier tipo de extracción mineral dentro de los ríos limítrofes a\neste marque estará regulada por el Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Las personas\nque la lleven a cabo se deberán asentar en las márgenes exteriores al parque.\nEl Servicio de Parques Nacionales llevará un control de las personas que se\ndediquen a dicha extracción y cancelará la actividad a quien infringiere las\nnormas vigentes para el parque\").\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 2°-La Procuraduría General de la República hará inscribir los terrenos del Estado ubicados\ndentro de este parque en el Registro Público, como finca individualizada del patrimonio nacional.\nEstos terrenos se declaran como inalienables.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 3°-Durante la vigencia de este decreto, los particulares no podrán tramitar en los terrenos\nafectados, ninguna información posesoria, ni ejercer ningún acto de posesión dentro del Parque, de\nconformidad con los artículos 19 y 25 de la Ley Forestal.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 4°-Se encarga al Instituto Geográfico Nacional la interpretación de los límites descritos,\nde acuerdo con el avance cartográfico del mapa básico del país, la publicación de un mapa separado\nde este parque y la toma de nuevas fotos aéreas para la confección de un Mosaico Fotográfico\nactualizado.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 5°-La Procuraduría General de la República, dentro del mes siguiente a la publicación del\npresente decreto, levantará actas notariales de los actuales propietarios; ocupantes y precaristas\nde la zona.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 6°-A fin de proteger el Parque creado por este decreto, los miembros de la Guardia de\nAsistencia Rural quedan investidos del carácter de guardabosques. Será responsabilidad suya ayudar\nal MAG en la protección del parque hasta tanto no se cree un cuerpo permanente de guardabosques\nresidentes en el mismo.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 7°-La administración de este Parque estará a cargo del Servicio de Parques Nacionales del\nMinisterio de Agricultura y Ganadería, el cual contará con el asesoramiento técnico y científico de\nun Comité Asesor formado por: El Director del Servicio de Parques Nacionales, quien lo presidirá; un\nrepresentante del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas (CONICIT), un\nrepresentante de la Oficina de Planificación; un representante de la Escuela de Ciencias Ambientales\nde la Universidad Nacional, un representante de la Escuela de Biología de la Universidad de Costa\nRica; un representante del Colegio de Biólogos, y un representante del Centro Científico Tropical,\ncomo asociación nacional interesada en la conservación de la naturaleza. El Comité podrá también\ninvitar a sus reuniones con el carácter de observadores, a representantes de organizaciones\nnacionales e internacionales interesadas en la conservación de este parque.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 8°-Las funciones del Comité serán: 1) Coadyuvar en la adecuada administración y protección\ndel parque; 2) Fomentar las contribuciones y donaciones de personas físicas o jurídicas, nacionales\ny extranjeras, para desarrollo y protección del mismo; 3) Gestionar la inclusión de este parque\ndentro de los programas de las Naciones Unidas denominados \"El Hombre y la Biosfera\" y \"Fondo para\nla Herencia Mundial\" 4) Colaborar en la redacción de un proyecto para darle estatus de ley de la\nRepública a este Parque, en un plazo no mayor de 6 meses a partir de la fecha en que el Comité quede\noficialmente instalado; 5) Coadyuvar en la coordinación de la acción de todas las instituciones\nnacionales que pudieran colaborar en el establecimiento y manejo de este parque.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 9°-El MAG podrá celebrar contratos y acuerdos con organizaciones nacionales e\ninternacionales con el fin de procurar fondos para la protección de este Parque Nacional.\n\n Ficha articulo\n\nArtículo 10°-En todos los terrenos ubicados en este Parque, queda prohibido: 1) Talar árboles y\nextraer cualquier tipo de planta o producto vegetal; 2) Cazar o capturar animales silvestres,\nfluviales, terrestres o marinos o recolectar o extraer cualquiera de sus productos o despojos; 3)\nRecolectar o extraer objetos de interés histórico o arqueológico; 4) Introducir plantas y animales\ndomésticos exóticos; 5) Aterrizar en las playas sin autorización o sobrevolar la. zona a baja\naltura; 6) Extraer rocas y arenas; 7) Provocar quemas, echar ganado y poner colmenas; 8) Construir\ncarreteras y caminos para vehículos; 9) Portar armas. Included within\nthe Park are all rocks and islands located in front of it that are found\nin the territorial waters of Costa Rica.\n\n(NOTE: By\nArticle 1 of Executive Decree No. 6385 of September 30, 1976, Caño Island\nis added to Corcovado National Park)\n\n(NOTE\nFROM SINALEVI: By Executive Decree No. 11148 of February 5, 1980,\n\"Corcovado National Park, created by Executive Decree\nNo. 5357-A of October 24, 1975, is expanded to include as its total area that\ncomprised within the following boundaries: from a point on the coast\nlocated at coordinates 287,000 N and 492,750 E, it follows straight lines\nwhose vertices have the following coordinates:\n\nCoordinates\n\n| 287,000 N | 498,500 E |\n| --- | --- |\n| 288,500 N | 500,000 E |\n| 288,500 N | 501,000 E |\n| 287,500 N | 502,000 E |\n| 287,500 N | 503,000 E |\n| 288,000 N | 503,500 E |\n| 288,000 N | 505,000 E |\n| 289,500 N | 506,500 E |\n\nFrom this last point, it continues with a due East bearing to\na point located at coordinates 289,500 N and 508,600 E, where the\nspring (naciente) of the Quebrada Vaquedano is located; the boundary follows\ndownstream along this creek to the site of its confluence with the Pavón River,\nwhich has coordinates 283,680 N and 517,200 E; from this point the boundary follows\ndownstream along the Pavón River to its junction with the Rincón River, located at a point\nwith coordinates 284,350 N and 518,450 E; the boundary follows upstream along this river\nto a point at coordinates 279,400 N and 518,530 E, where it joins the\nNiño River; it follows upstream\nalong this river to its spring (nacimiento) at a point with coordinates 279,250 N and\n520,550 E, from where it continues in a straight line to meet the point at\ncoordinates 277,400 N and 521,750 E, where the North tributary of the Agujas River rises;\nthe boundary continues downstream along it to its confluence with the South\ntributary of the Agujas River at the point with coordinates 276,940 N and 525,280 E; it follows\nin a straight line to the point at coordinates 273,560 N and 527,740 E, where\nthe confluence of the Quebrada Piedras Blancas with its tributary is located,\ncontinuing upstream along this creek to its spring (nacimiento) which is\nfound at a point with coordinates 270,080 N and 522,880 E; it follows with a due South bearing\nto the point with coordinates 270,000 N and 522,880 E; the boundary continues\nwith a due West orientation to a point with coordinates 270,000 N and\n521,000 E, then follows along the coordinate 521,000 E, with a due South bearing\nto a point with coordinates 268,260 N and 521,000 E, from where it follows with\na due West orientation to a point with coordinates 268,260 N and 520,720 E,\nat this point the Quebrada Leona rises, the boundary continuing downstream to\nits mouth.\n\nBetween this last point and the point of origin of this description\nextends the marine boundary of this park, which includes a strip of 500 m of sea\nalong the coast.\n\nAny type of mining extraction within the rivers bordering\nthis park shall be regulated by the Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Persons\ncarrying it out must settle on the banks outside the park.\nThe Servicio de Parques Nacionales shall keep a record of persons engaged\nin such extraction and shall cancel the activity for anyone who violates\nthe rules in force for the park\").\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 2—The Procuraduría General de la República shall register the State lands located\nwithin this park in the Public Registry, as an individualized property of the national heritage.\nThese lands are declared inalienable.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 3—During the validity of this decree, private individuals may not process in the affected\nlands any possessory information, nor exercise any act of possession within the Park, in\naccordance with Articles 19 and 25 of the Ley Forestal.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 4—The Instituto Geográfico Nacional is entrusted with the interpretation of the described limits,\nin accordance with the cartographic progress of the country's basic map, the publication of a separate map\nof this park, and the taking of new aerial photos for the production of an updated Photographic Mosaic.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 5—The Procuraduría General de la República, within the month following the publication of\nthis decree, shall draw up notarized records of the current owners, occupants, and squatters\nof the area.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 6—In order to protect the Park created by this decree, the members of the Guardia de\nAsistencia Rural are hereby vested with the character of forest guards. It shall be their responsibility to assist\nthe MAG in the protection of the park until a permanent body of resident forest guards is created\ntherein.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 7—The administration of this Park shall be in charge of the Servicio de Parques Nacionales of the\nMinisterio de Agricultura y Ganadería, which shall have the technical and scientific advice of\nan Advisory Committee formed by: The Director of the Servicio de Parques Nacionales, who shall preside over it; a\nrepresentative of the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas (CONICIT); a\nrepresentative of the Oficina de Planificación; a representative of the Escuela de Ciencias Ambientales\nof the Universidad Nacional; a representative of the Escuela de Biología of the Universidad de Costa\nRica; a representative of the Colegio de Biólogos; and a representative of the Centro Científico Tropical,\nas a national association interested in nature conservation. The Committee may also\ninvite to its meetings, with the status of observers, representatives of national\nand international organizations interested in the conservation of this park.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 8—The functions of the Committee shall be: 1) To contribute to the adequate administration and protection\nof the park; 2) To promote contributions and donations from national and foreign individuals or legal entities,\nfor its development and protection; 3) To manage the inclusion of this park\nwithin the United Nations programs called \"Man and the Biosphere\" and \"World\nHeritage Fund\"; 4) To collaborate in the drafting of a bill to give this Park the status of a law of the\nRepublic, within a period not exceeding 6 months from the date the Committee is\nofficially installed; 5) To contribute to the coordination of the action of all national\ninstitutions that may collaborate in the establishment and management of this park.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 9—The MAG may enter into contracts and agreements with national and international\norganizations for the purpose of procuring funds for the protection of this National Park.\n\nArticle file\n\nArticle 10—On all lands located in this Park, the following is prohibited: 1) Cutting down trees and\nextracting any type of plant or plant product; 2) Hunting or capturing wild, riverine, terrestrial, or marine animals,\nor collecting or extracting any of their products or remains; 3)\nCollecting or extracting objects of historical or archaeological interest; 4) Introducing exotic\ndomestic plants and animals; 5) Landing on the beaches without authorization or flying over the area at low\naltitude; 6) Extracting rocks and sand; 7) Causing fires, putting out livestock, and placing beehives; 8) Building\nhighways and roads for vehicles; 9) Carrying weapons. Only the collection of few or\nsmall specimens of plants, rocks, and minerals shall be permitted, subject to the joint written approval of the\nServicio de Parques Nacionales and the Management Committee.
