endangers the fragility of the different ecosystems existing in the area. Therefore,\n\n \n\nHEREBY DECREE:\n\n \n\nArticle 1—The properties registered in the National Registry, folio (matrícula) numbers 7-32414-001 and 002, 7-32415-001 and 002, 7-32416-001 and 002 and 7-32417-001 and 002, owned by Mr. Rundquist Ingemar Hedstrom and Mrs. María Teresa Ruiz Hedstrom, cadastral plans L-0673701-1987, L-0673711-1987, L-0673705-1987 and L-0673707-1987, respectively, for a total of 94,627,263 hectares, located at vertical coordinates 597500/599000 and horizontal coordinates 219500/221500, Lambert projection, Bonilla cartographic sheet, in the community called Caserío Las Brisas, Pacuarito district, Siquirres Canton of the province of Limón, are hereby declared as \"Río Dantas Private Category Wildlife Refuge\".\n\nArticle 2—The owners of the properties mentioned in the preceding article undertake not to develop any activity that compromises the existing flora and fauna in the area declared as a private refuge, without the respective permit from the competent departments of the Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía, to provide all necessary collaboration to the officials of this Ministry in control and verification tasks, and to comply with the provisions set forth in the Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, No. 7317 and the Ley Forestal and its amendments, No. 7575, their respective regulations, the approved Management Plan (Plan de Manejo) for the Refuge, and other current provisions regarding environmental legal regulations.\n\nArticle 3—Said properties shall be subject to the private wildlife refuge regime, for a period of 10 years, renewable for equal terms, for which the owners must request the renewal at least 6 months in advance of the end of said period; otherwise, the owners must express their desire to release the farms (fincas) from the regime by means of a written submission presented to the Área de Conservación La Amistad-Caribe of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación of the Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía, one year in advance.\n\nArticle 4—The administration of the refuge shall be the responsibility of the property owners, under the supervision and management and use policies for natural resources of the Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía.\n\nArticle 5—This declaration may be repealed by the Administration, in the event of proven non-compliance with the approved management plan (plan de manejo) and the environmental legal regulations governing wildlife refuges; the same measure shall apply in case of disregard by the owners of the technical provisions and recommendations issued by the Área de Conservación La Amistad-Caribe of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación of the Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía.\n\nArticle 6—It shall be effective as of its publication.\n\n \n\nGiven at the Presidencia de la República—San José, on the fourth day of the month of January of the year two thousand six." }
