Asimismo,\nsus bosques resguardarán la belleza escénica natural de esa región.\n\nARTÍCULO 2.- Los límites de la\nZona Protectora El Chayote se describen y se definen por coordenadas, tanto los\nlímites naturales como artificiales, según las hojas topográficas Quesada,\nEdición I-IGNCR, 1966, y Naranjo Edición 2, 1982, escala 1:50.000.\n\nPartiendo de un\npunto situado en la intersección de caminos que conducen a la Picada y a El\nChayote, respectivamente en el punto de coordenadas 237450N-498750 E (punto de\ncoordenada 1). Continúa por el camino que se dirige a El Chayote hasta un punto\nde coordenadas 238100N-497950 E (punto de coordenada 2). De este punto continúa\nen tramos rectos uniendo los puntos de coordenadas 238600 N-497480 E (punto de\ncoordenada 3) sobre la calle El Chayote, 239575 N-497000 E (punto de coordenada\n4) sobre el río Barranca. Continúa por la margen izquierda aguas arriba de\ndicho río hasta el punto de coordenadas 240000 N-497300 E (punto de coordenada\n5), luego en línea recta con rumbo noroeste hasta el punto de coordenadas\n240600 N-497000 E (punto de coordenada 6) ubicado sobre otro camino que conduce\na El Chayote. Siguiendo este camino con rumbo suroeste hasta el punto de\ncoordenadas 240520 N-496640 E (punto de coordenada 7), siguiendo en línea recta\nhasta el punto de coordenadas 240840 N-496700 E (punto de coordenada 8),\nubicado sobre un brazo del río Espino, continuando aguas abajo de este hasta su\nconfluencia con otro brazo del mismo río en el punto de coordenadas 240780\nN-496340 E (punto de coordenada 9), prosiguiendo por este último brazo del río\ncitado, aguas arriba hasta su naciente interpretando curvas de nivel en el\npunto de coordenadas 241680 N-497950 E (punto de coordenada 10). Likewise,\nits forests shall safeguard the natural scenic beauty of that region.\n\nARTICLE 2.- The boundaries of the\nEl Chayote Protective Zone are described and defined by coordinates, both the\nnatural and artificial boundaries, according to the topographic sheets Quesada,\nEdition I-IGNCR, 1966, and Naranjo Edition 2, 1982, scale 1:50,000.\n\nStarting from a\npoint located at the intersection of roads leading to La Picada and to El\nChayote, respectively at the coordinate point 237450N-498750 E (coordinate point 1). It continues along the road that heads to El Chayote to a point\nwith coordinates 238100N-497950 E (coordinate point 2). From this point it continues\nin straight segments joining the coordinate points 238600 N-497480 E (coordinate point\n3) on Calle El Chayote, 239575 N-497000 E (coordinate point\n4) on the Barranca River. It continues along the left bank upstream of\nsaid river to the coordinate point 240000 N-497300 E (coordinate point 5), then in a straight line heading northwest to the coordinate point\n240600 N-497000 E (coordinate point 6) located on another road that leads\nto El Chayote. Following this road heading southwest to the coordinate point\n240520 N-496640 E (coordinate point 7), continuing in a straight line\nto the coordinate point 240840 N-496700 E (coordinate point 8),\nlocated on a branch of the Espino River, continuing downstream of this to its\nconfluence with another branch of the same river at the coordinate point 240780\nN-496340 E (coordinate point 9), proceeding along this last branch of the river\ncited, upstream to its spring (naciente) interpreting contour lines at the\ncoordinate point 241680 N-497950 E (coordinate point 10). Then it follows\na southeast heading to the coordinate point 241600 N-498040 E (coordinate point\n11) on a road that continues north to its intersection with the\nroad that leads to the town of Picada, at the coordinate point 242200\nN-498180 E (coordinate point 12), following this road eastward to\nits intersection with another road that leads to El Chayote, at the coordinate point\n242080 N-498600 E (coordinate point 13). It follows this road with\na general south heading passing through the coordinate point 239250 N-499320 E\n(coordinate point 14) and continuing along that same road that follows the\nhigh part of the water divide until joining the road indicated on the\nNaranjo cartographic sheet and that leads to the intersection of roads at the\ncoordinate point 237450 N-498750 E (1) initial point of the present\ninscription.\n\nARTICLE 3.- The National System\nof Conservation Areas (Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación) may develop a management plan in conjunction with\nthe owners of the real estate properties -state and private- comprised\nwithin the boundaries indicated by the previous article, with the aim\nso that these may develop an environmental buffer area, which\nshall comprise a twenty-five-meter strip, around the protective zone.\nThis management plan for the buffer area shall promote sustainable\ndevelopment and shall propose the development of environmental techniques that strengthen\nthe biological balance and production.\n\nARTICLE 4.- The Ministry of\nFinance may budget, according to availability, the funds\nrequired for the payment of land, in order to acquire the greatest quantity of\nlands within the El Chayote Protective Zone, in accordance with the environmental legislation\nin force and applicable.\n\nARTICLE 5.- The administration and\nprotection of the delimited protective zone shall correspond to MINAE, by\nmeans of the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), and its\nadministration shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions established in the environmental legislation\nin force and applicable. For the foregoing, the\nparticipation and contributions of the municipal environmental commissions of the local\ngovernments of Naranjo, Zarcero, and neighboring cantons shall be taken into account.\n\nARTICLE 6.- In compliance with\nthe provisions set forth in this law, the National System of\nConservation Areas is authorized to enter into cooperation agreements with the Municipality of\nNaranjo and the Municipality of Zarcero, as well as with community\norganizations, natural persons or legal entities interested in the achievement of the\npurposes of this law.\n\nARTICLE 7.- Article\n81 of Law No. 6975, of November 1, 1984, is repealed.\n\nIt shall enter into force upon its\npublication.\n\nGiven at the\nPresidency of the Republic, San José, on the nineteenth day of the month of October\nof the year two thousand twelve.\n\nLet it be executed and\npublished." }
